For godknowshowlong, there were portions (experts and sociologists) of American society who believed to get the violence out of drugs, was to legalize it. People would be less motivated to sell drugs if there was a tax on it levied by the gov’t. Safe to say marijuana, also goes by the names of MaryJane, Grass, Hay, Chronic would be a safe sector to begin the legalization.

ECONOMIC IMPACT

Democrat or liberal states have led the legalization. Their primary goal was to tax sales for revenue that would begin to hit the $1B, in tax revenue, in a few short years. The plan and strategy looked great on paper with projected revenue has been projected to surpass craft beer sales around 2025 by an excess of $20B i.e. $45.9B (cannabis) vs $27.28B (craft beer). Those numbers are in the 2021 Annual Marijuana Business Factbook. In 2021, California is projected to have $5.7B followed by Colorado with $2.5B.

$100M CALIFORNIA BAILOUT

Of course Covid 19 has played a role in the struggle. But more so, the cannabis industry blames CA’s stifling regulatory measures that allows the state’s tight squeeze on the businesses obtaining licenses to operate quickly. CA wants to do more studies on the sector by spending 20M+ just on consultants (paper pushers) to better assist those seeking cannabis licenses. Really?

CANNABIS NOT LIKE BEER OR CIGARETTES

Even though a ton of people like getting a buzz, it has ever increasing competition with synthetic drugs finding its way into neighborhoods and streets. Functional addicts combine drugs that get them “racing” to be more productive and stay up past twenty four hours. Since alcohol is the number one recreational drug, it’s drinkers are more apt to have a cigarette after work with it than a joint or stick. More people smoke a pack of cigarettes a day than a joint a day.

DEMOGRAPHICS

Anything retail requires a cross section of demographics to succeed. Weed isn’t going to make in-roads with seniors, who much consider the rec drug taboo. People under 30 is it’s primary users. It’s a cheap rec drug for teens…
