The reason why?

They were bored.

That’s the news I received when I was in line at a fast food joint I visit regularly. A good friend of the family walked up to me and asked me casually had I heard of the particular incident in an upper middle class neighborhood a few miles from my residential neighborhood.

I recollect a time when a friend of mine did a stint in law enforcement. He mentioned most car break-ins, done by teens, are due to teens wanting to joyride.

Did Twitch have a falling out with a few hormonal raging teens?

Has Call Of Duty Vanguard not lived up to the billing and tempers flared at the screen?

Are they becoming burned out on social media apps? Maybe social media don’t have the power over teen lives as some reports.

PSYCHOLOGY ON BOREDOM AND TEEN RISK TAKING

A lack of daily stimulation from activities of purpose (work, chores, education) leads to depression and signs may not be telling to the parent(s). Without appropriate role models a bored kid means trouble (Psychology Today, March 26 2018 — Boredom, Violence and Passion by Diana Raab, Ph.D).

A further study by Biolacti, in 2018, showed the more bored they teens are, the riskier behavior they partake in.

SOME DOWN HOME SUGGESTIONS

  1. Parental involvement should involve their bored teen go work on farms. Yes!!!!!! Practically everybody’s great grandparents or grand parents worked couldn’t imaging being getting bored or becoming bored. A profound appreciation for food that keeps human alive will create a new awareness.
  2. Bored teens to join a bootcamp lead by an uncompromising mentor. Non-stop duties, waking up at in the middle of the night to march around in the rain and develops the mind to become focused. Authority will be viewed as the concept which create checks and balance in life.
  3. Start a business with all the paperwork and accounting. Creating sheer value for others and receiving monies helps to support the theme of life requires work and there are no guarantees and the individual must pave their own way.
